She brought it in to the Mercedes people and they said the car looks good except for the engine mount bolts (or something) will need replacing in the next few years.
#1999 c230 kompressor driver#
It's driver side mirror was clipped off and there is a small crack in her windshield. MY FRIEND will sell me her 1999 Mercedes C230 Kompressor (automatic) for $1,500. But there's ~$2,000 worth of stuff to put into it to make it street legal and look nice for a date. That is the car I own presently! Looks like a beater, but has always been reliable. This is of the era where Hondas just got defective paint jobs, and I don't have the heart to sink $300-$1000 into a paint job on a 17 year old car.Īlso, I got a free rebuilt transmission from Honda at 80,000 miles due to their class action settlement re: bad ball bearings in some of their transmissions. There are a few issues though: 1) there's a $500 repair I haven't sprung for to replace the horn and fix something inside the steering wheel column (it's not just a defective horn.) 2) The driver's side mirror needs to be replaced and 3) the horrible, horrible peeling paint that makes me look like I live in my car. It's got a few quirks but has been quite reliable. 147,000 miles on the thing, just got a new fuel pump, have generally followed whatever advice my trusted mechanic has given me. I don't know if it's EX or LX or what - it's an automatic and the wheels have four bolts in them. I have a 2 door but would prefer a 4 door. I live along the Gulf right now but will be moving to Philadelphia in the near future, and will take whatever car I possess with me. So I just need a car for basic transportation.
